Accredited by the CPD network, this practical course, underpinned with essential theory, will equip delegates with the skills to perform basic observations of patients including vital signs, NEWS2, blood glucose monitoring and urinalysis in a healthcare setting, delivered by trainers who have up-to-date clinical experience. This course is suitable for all healthcare assistants looking to develop and enhance their skills. There will be protected time for any questions and further development that participants may require.

- Understand the anatomy and physiology that relates to clinical observations
- Effectively communicate with the patient and demonstrate good record keeping
- Discuss normal and abnormal clinical observations and vital signs
- Understand the clinical significance of abnormal vital sign readings
- Perform a range of clinical observations under supervision including:
- Blood pressure
- Blood glucose testing
- Pulse and Pulse Oximetry
- Respiration
- Temperature
- Urine test
- Peak flow
- Glasgow Coma Scale
- Teaching inhaler techniques
