QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
This paediatric first aid course has been specifically designed to meet the paediatric first aid requirements in the statutory framework for the early year's foundation stage.
Description
During this two day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: assessing an emergency situation, dealing with an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, meningitis, head and spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, asthma and more.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive certification valid for 3 years.

Learning Outcomes
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant who is:
-unresponsive
-choking
-externally bleeding,
-suffering from shock
-experiencing extremes of body temperature - Be able to provide first aid to an infant with
-bites, stings or minor injuries.
-conditions affecting the eyes. ears and nose - Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child with:
-suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
-suspected head injuries and spinal injuries
-acute medical condition or sudden illness
-burns and scalds
-anaphylaxis
-suspected poisoning - Be able to provide first aid to a infant or child who has sustained an electric shock.
